Helioseismic Signature of Chromospheric Downflows in Acoustic Travel-Time Measurements from Hinode

چکیده
We report on a signature of chromospheric downflows in two emerging-flux regions detected by time–distance helioseismology analysis. We use both chromospheric intensity oscillation data in the Ca ii H line and photospheric Dopplergrams in the Fe i 557.6nm line obtained by Hinode/SOT for our analyses. By cross-correlating the Ca ii oscillation signals, we have detected a travel-time anomaly in the plage regions; outward travel times are shorter than inward travel times by 0.5−1 minute. However, such an anomaly is absent in the Fe i data. These results can be interpreted as evidence of downflows in the lower chromosphere. The downflow speed is estimated to be below 10 km s−1. This result demonstrates a new possibility of studying chromospheric flows by time–distance analysis. Subject headings: Sun: chromosphere — Sun: faculae, plages — Sun: helioseismology

Supersonic Downflows in a Sunspot Light Bridge
We report the discovery of supersonic downflows in a sunspot light bridge using measurements taken with the spectropolarimeter on board the Hinode satellite. The downflows occur in small patches close to regions where the vector magnetic field changes orientation rapidly, and are associated with anomalous circular polarization profiles. An inversion of the observed Stokes spectra reveals veloci...
متن کاملSensitivity of time-distance helioseismic measurements to spatial variation of oscillation amplitudes I. Observations and a numerical model
It is well known that the observed amplitude of solar oscillations is lower in sunspots than in quiet regions of the Sun. We show that this local reduction in oscillation amplitudes combined with the phase-speed filtering procedure in time-distance helioseismic analyses could be a source of systematic errors in the range of 5 40% in the measured travel-time anomalies of acoustic waves around su...
متن کاملSeparating Surface Magnetic Effects in Sunspot Seismology: New Time-distance Helioseismic Diagnostics
Time-distance helioseismic measurements in surfaceand deep-focus geometries for wave-paths that distinguish surface magnetic contributions from those due to deeper perturbations beneath a large sunspot are presented and analysed. Travel times showing an increased wave speed region extending down to about 18 Mm beneath the spot are detected in deep-focus geometry that largely avoids use of wave ...
متن کاملSurface Magnetism Effects in Time-Distance Helioseismology
Recent observations of helioseismic holography revealed that magnetic fields that are inclined relative to the line-of-sight direction could cause systematic variations in measured acoustic phase shifts (hereafter, “inclined magnetic field effect”), and that the presence of surface magnetic field may shift the phases and impair the coherence of acoustic waves (known as “showerglass effect”), th...
متن کاملHα and EUV observations of a partial CME
We have obtained Hα high spatial and time resolution observations of the upper solar chromosphere and supplemented these with multi-wavelength observations from the Solar Dynamics Observatory (SDO) and the Hinode Extreme-ultraviolet Imaging Spectrometer. The Hα observations were conducted on 2012 February 11 with the Hydrogen-Alpha Rapid Dynamics Camera instrument at the National Solar Observat...
